Find the physical quantity
Record the number of rolls and sheets per roll from the exact package in your cart. Multiply those figures before using a shelf comparison. A label saying mega or family describes a manufacturer comparison; it is not a common physical unit across brands.
Work through an example
For a clearly hypothetical example, a $12 pack with 12 rolls of 200 sheets contains 2,400 sheets and costs $0.50 per 100 sheets. A $10 pack with 8 rolls of 180 sheets costs about $0.69 per 100 sheets. These are teaching inputs, not observed prices.
Compare cost in your routine
A lower sheet price is not automatically the lower household cost. Thickness, sheet dimensions, and how many sheets you take can change the result. Trial a small pack, track rolls used over the same number of days, and calculate spending per day before committing to a case.
Before you decide
- Reject roll-equivalence numbers as your comparison unit.
- Keep ply separate from sheet count.
- Check dimensions when brands have different sheet sizes.
