Make reserves easy to find

Choose a compact reserve quantity from the length of the visit and your observed usage. Check that an unfamiliar jumbo roll fits and rotates easily before visitors arrive. Keep facial tissues in a separate box when space permits.

Explain appropriate disposal

For a septic home, a brief friendly note can say that only toilet paper goes in the toilet. EPA guidance supports keeping wipes, tissues and towels out of both sewers and septic systems. Place the wastebasket where it is easy to reach.

Inspect after cleaning

Inspect the room after cleaning for water on the storage shelf and damp packaging. Replace any compromised supplies. Do not put decorative storage ahead of access, hygiene or clear disposal instructions.

Before you decide

  • Provide a reachable wastebasket.
  • Test that the roll turns freely.
  • Keep the reserve shelf clear of water.
